Great film. This is the craziest and most intense track on this release.
6.
At the age of 5, Yellow Submarine simultaneously got me into music, and animation, film and film soundtracks, and probably pushed me along the way to being a bit of a hippie (and made me subconsciously aware of LSD as well!)... so, the 'revelations' are me as a 5 year old being submerged into this crazy new world, that would continue to reveal its greatness to me still 4 decades later.

I've lived my whole life in Leeds (this will change at the end of 2021 when I leave the country). For all the flaws that England has, and society in general, Leeds is absolutely fucking great! I feel lucky to have been brought up and involved in this miraculous city, and it is full of miracles, especially when you take the world reknowned music scene into account. Also, tea! Tea is great... so, I hope you will have a brew once this record is done (and also press play again for the reasons explained).

A 14 minute fast paced glitch noise experimental record ending with a 3 minute dark ambient track. Seems obvious really! I hope you enjoyed this little journey.

about

Originally made in about 30 hours between February 1st and 14th 2021, with another dozen hours in the last week to get everything ready for release.

There are no synths / keyboards, pedals or Midi used on this.
It's all made using Wavepad and a massive amount of sound manipulation.

It started with one 2 second long hum sound that got pitched down and distorted for the intro, and was glitched, looped, turned inside out and upside down from that starting point.

Even though this is only 14 minutes long, it feels complete to me.
I hope it is short enough for you to take in its full story, long enough for you to feel fulfilled by what it does, but short enough to play it again, as the end of the last track serves as an outro, but also an intro to the first track.

released May 3, 2021

During my process prior to release, I do my best to imagine I am not me, listening to the sounds with someone else's ears for the first time, and I don't release things until I am happy that a first time listener will be able to relax and focus on what happens... so, even though I make this music for myself, to help me through, to entertain and amuse me, to get bizarre or intense or funny thoughts out of my mind, I then test it for you, the wonderful listener who has entered my odd sonic realms with innocent gleaming eyes and a heart full of hope. I promise to not let you down, or upset you in any way, so, come get as comfortable as you can, and then hit play...

(May have got a little carried away there! It was fun).

This record makes me smile.
I hope it makes you smile too.
That cover definitely should... and there are some colourful pictures with each track / the download that help explain some influences on my life and why the titles are as they are.

Thank you for checking out OWL49.

P.S. If you got this far, then thank you ever so much for putting up with my ramblings... and if you like this sort of 'fun glitch noise', then there's a couple more that this one sort of follows on from....
