This set was an improvised dark ambient doom noise piece, playing along to a visual backdrop shown on a projector, upstairs in the art gallery part of Fiducia, a bookshop in the centre of Ostrava, Cz.
This was just me, my bass, pedals and laptop which had the intro and outro 'extra' sounds. The two tracks are previous versions of tracks from a forthcoming split with Säkkikangas.
I made this recording just with my trusty H1N Zoom recorder, although I did place it on a wooden ledge in between the PA speakers, which is why you occasionally here some vibration noises on the heavier parts, but, my thinking, my hope is that they add some knowledge of the heaviness that was there.
So, granted, this is a very live sounding recording, once again, but I am so pleased that I managed to get a document of this evening. To play a solo set only 2 months after moving to Czech for Martin Rezny of Säkkikangas, who puts on gigs with audiences that really appreciate and attentively listen to every sound, every note of the people making them, was a very big step for me in my evolution as an improvising musician, and as someone trying more and more to combine the visual aspect into what I do as The Owl.
Morbid Beauty 60 (out 20.3.23) - My darker harsher / industrial / noise / drone / wall side. A good introduction and then work backwards to Day 0 at the end. The Owl

Suspenseful and Eerie. Each track tells a story. Spirits haunting a boneyard and aliens scanning the wreckage of a battlefield are just some.of the images brought to mind. Michael
