'How did you go from calling this Štěpán's Crunchy Textures to The First Martyr, and who is Štěpán?', you may ask yourself, well, me!
'Well' I answer with a sneaky smile on my face...
'it's not a who, it's a where!'
Svaty Stepan is a really small town in Zlínský Kraj, Czech, where I visited with my wife and some of her family in December 2021, and this is where I made the initial snowy field recording, of us both walking on snow.
On searching 'Svaty Stepan' in Google to work on the picture and text to go with this track, I discovered that there was a Svatý Štěpán (Saint Stephen), who was 'a Christian preacher and deacon, the first martyr of Christianity, stoned after the trial before the Jewish Council as an alleged blasphemer against Judaism.'
