This recording was our first jam together in 20 months since the last Sloth Hammer gig before the world stopped.

I hope you will give this hour long emotional expedition a chance to unfold. Let the riffs guide you and the sometimes peripheral, sometimes blatant sounds and swirls add haze and colour to your trip.

This release is a mix of deliberately obvious practice room jamming sound, recorded on one mic to put you right there in the room with us, just hanging out and seeing where the sounds take us, and a multi layered, processed and restructured sonic adventure to bend the reality you were previously placed within.

Me and Dan have jammed a lot over the last 9 years or so. Mainly in Sloth Hammer (live and on the recordings (both settings of which are all completely improvised)), and also a few times for a project called Mother Nature Versus Father Time which did a few improvised demo recordings and then structured gigs. I decided it was really suitable to keep the name / phrase going for this collaboration, since there will be more to come...

Entirely improvised: June 20th, 2021, at Eiger Studios, Leeds
Recorded live with just a Zoom H1 Recorder.
Demolition and reconstruction work went on until October 25th 2021.

Track 7 was the first bit of 'soundcheck', and then track 2 was the first full slab of a jam that we had, and this 'Part One' is made from the first 40 minutes of the session, there is another 45 minutes for me to work on next.

Please bear in mind this is all just 'live in a practice room', recorded as one layer into a small recorder laid on the floor between the drumkit and my bass cab, then tons of mixing, layers and noises added afterwards.

Thank you to those who step in with an open mind and ears, and let the sounds and ideas take you on an swirly ambient doom driven riff journey with plenty of unexpected twists, turns and departures from normality and the initial route to investigate what is hidden around some unusual corners.
