about

53 minutes of minimal, tense, lo-fi, dark drone soundscapes
"An album that slows time on your behalf, right to the last second"
"Sounds to lean upon, climb inside, take solace within."
"Melancholic but uplifting melodies amongst the drones;
Overwhelming but empowering and cathartic in its journey."
"Put your headphones on, and let this melt everything away ."

Made in around 20 hours in 3 intense days June 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2022. Parts are from original sounds spanning back over the last 25+ years, but arranged and layered using methods and programs I've only recently started using.

I know it is quite scratchy, lo-fi, weird, awkward, and all deliberately so, plus this was the only way to save some of those original sounds, as some were recovered from dusty tapes made in the mid 90s, and scratched CDs from the early to mid 00s. I hope you will look inside the sounds for the emotion and meanings.

I used this line on Paths Of The Past, but since this is from the same series of releases, it is still apt to say I am ''telling a story of 'how the past feels' once growing distant from it".

It is usually never the same when you revisit it (be it a place, a feeling, a person), but that is not necessarily a bad thing, just different, interestingly so, showing remnants of why you loved it before, but seen in different lights through the dilution of the experiences since.All photos (cover, titles, tracks) taken by The Owl, and all in Leeds, where I lived for a month short of 45 years until November 2021.

I felt it was about time to do more minimal, tense, slow moving sounds, and this was really exciting and illuminating to experiment with, hence it being started to completion in just 3 days. I got really immersed in it, but also, because of the subject matter that developed, it has helped me make sense a little more of my current situation, living in a different country for the first time in my life.

There are more releases and concepts building around this style. I am feeling this sound as a thoughtful, dark but cathartic realm to explore and I am discovering atmospheres and ideas I couldn't have imagined previously, so, thank you for listening to this part of my journey.

This album is also hosted on the really great label for (mostly) harsh / noise / walls, but, there is also dark, experimental, minimal, drone and more on there, so get looking through a fully excellent discography!
